5 Mistakes Companies Make When Adding Stone Services

Plus two bonus mistakes that tie them all together — a field guide for contractors expanding into stone restoration.

Stone work commands some of the best margins in the service industry — but companies adding it to an existing business keep making the same expensive mistakes. This free field guide names all seven, including:

  • Why treating stone as an "upsell" instead of a trade sinks new stone divisions before they start
  • The diamond-process shortcut that wastes time, ruins finishes, and becomes impossible to retrain
  • Why pricing stone work by the square foot quietly destroys profitability
  • The vocabulary — restoration vs. refinishing vs. maintenance — that separates professionals from pretenders
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is this training for?

Contractors adding stone care to an existing business, facility teams responsible for hard surfaces, and companies building internal surface-care capability. You don't need to be an expert — you need to be responsible for getting the work right.

Do I need stone experience to attend?

No. The course starts with fundamentals — how to identify surfaces, diagnose problems, and select processes. If you've never touched a diamond pad, you'll keep up. If you have experience, you'll get the decision-making framework behind the work.

What's included in the $895?

Full day: classroom session (1–5 PM), dinner (5–6 PM), and a supervised field shift on a live job site (6–10 PM). You take home process guides, worksheets, decision-making tools, and a certificate of completion.

What should I wear and bring?

Comfortable shoes and casual clothes that will get dirty — because they will. Bring nothing. We provide everything.

What's the cancellation policy?

Cancel on or before November 17 for a refund less $75 admin fee or full course credit. November 18–24: full course credit, no cash refund. After November 25: nonrefundable except for documented emergencies. No-shows receive no refund or credit. If SCE cancels or minimum enrollment isn't met, you choose a full refund or full tuition credit.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes. Every student who completes the course receives a certificate of completion.
